During our recent trip to Morocco, we became obsessed with hot mint tea. It's a very formal and ceremonial thing to do in Morocco, and many shop owners will offer you mint tea after your purchase (and seriously, don't refuse it! It's seen as sort of rude but also it's just a wonderful custom to take part in). Apparently, the higher the height from which the tea is poured, the more important the guest — and this practice has gotten so serious that the tea servers at the king's palace in Morocco serve his tea from the balcony!
We visited a trendy restaurant, Le Jardin, while we were in Marrakech, though, that served an iced version of the mint tea and I was obsessed. We brought bags of mint tea home from Morocco and we've been making it cold and hot ever since. So, if you're needing a cool, refreshing summer drink and need something a little more exciting than plain ol' sweet tea, get it poppin' with iced mint tea and try and pour it for your friends from your own balcony — you know, if you have one.
