Kansas City, here I come →
Moving away from your family can be pretty difficult, but I've been finding that moving across the world can really put a lot of things in perspective.
I grew up in a rural area north of Kansas City, spending a lot of my time in high school complaining about the excess of corn fields and how boring my hometown was. But now, as I'm preparing to move away for a couple years, off to southern Europe, I'm really starting to relish and enjoy all the things that I thought were annoying about where I grew up — and realizing that Kansas City has actually gotten pretty cool.
While preparing for the move, I was fortunate enough to spend the summer with my family in my hometown, getting my fill of diner food and gravel roads. I spent a lot of First Fridays in downtown Kansas City with my friends or my mom, shopping and trying out new food trucks, and a lot of weekday nights running to my favorite ice cream spot with my dad.
