It's hot as balls, y'all. Take 90+ temperatures, a car with black leather seats without air conditioning and a house with one a/c unit and, well, I'm hangin' in there as long as I can. Bring on the frozen treats, please!
If you ever come to Italy (as a current resident of the country, I'd highly recommend it), you may see people sippin' on florescent orange drinks in the piazza. These drinks are spritzes — either an Aperol spritz or a Campari spritz. Take some bubbly Prosecco, a splash of club soda, that bitter orange liquer and an orange slice, and saluti! You've got yourself a go-to Italian cocktail. Yes, it's acceptable over lunch.
But what's a girl to do when there's a heat wave and she needs to ingest booze in a portable way, Italian style? Spritz creamsicles, duh (or dreamsicles, I did a lot of debating on which one was correct. Your thoughts in the comments, please). They're melty, they're orange, they're booze-infused. They may not be purse friendly (are there popsicle flasks?), but place that butt in a hammock, whip out your summer readin' (my Prose Before Bros reading group has been telling me "Luckiest Girl Alive" is all the rage for the "Gone Girl" lovers) and try not to drip orange goodness all over your book.
- 1/2 cup prosecco
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 T honey
- 1/2 cup aperol
- Splash club soda
- Combine all ingredients into a medium bowl — preferrably one with a lip for pouring.
- Carefully pour into popsicle molds or dixie cups. Top with popsicle holders or popsicle sticks.
- Place in freezer overnight or between 4-6 hours, until completely frozen.
- When properly frozen, run the popsicles under hot water to losen them, then enjoy!
